THE MATRIX" - A CLAYS SHOOTING PLATFORM WITH 5 SHOOTING STATIONS LOCATED ON 5 DECK LEVELS!!

Planned by Sporting Clays Expert John Alexander and constructed by local builder Mac Watts (Sedan Construction), this beautiful shooting station must be seen to be appeciated. Made from treated pine with a shingle roof, it looks more like an A-frame cabin than a shooting stand, and blends nicely into the landscape.

And what shooting possiblities! A wobble "trap" (the machine that releases the clay "birds"), is located underneath the structure. This special trap shoots out clays by remote control.  They fly above and below the shooter in random fashion, with the flight of each clay varying in height and angle. Six other traps, also run by remote control, provide great opportunities for incoming and crossing shots, as well as doubles.

Shooting at different heights also presents unique challenges. Just when you think you're getting everything "figured out", you have to move across to the next station, which is either higher or lower than the one you just left!  And you are then faced with a brand new set of skills to master!

Families or small groups of friends are welcome to book "The Matrix" for a morning or afternoon shoot. Whether you're a expert or a beginner to the sport, shooting clays is great fun year-round! We have shotguns and safety equipment available for up to five clients at no charge.

In addition to "The Matrix", the clays range has a beautiful fire pit with a large seating area. Two picnic tables with canopies add to the enjoyment of meals and shooting breaks. Shooters can enjoy cold drinks from a well-stocked gas refrigerator nearby.

Shooting clinics are offered periodically by expert John Alexander, a Level III National Sporting Clays Assocation instructor. John and his partner Rick Hill (a Level II NSCA instructor) run the Flying Rabbit Sporting Clays Range in Mount Crawford, VA.
